Privacy Policy
CarterGarden (“the app”) is operated by High Key Adventures, LLC (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and who helps us provide the service. We’ve written it in plain language; we’ll update it as the app evolves (see “Changes to this policy”). Questions: developer@cartergarden.com.
The short version
We collect only what we need to run your account and the gardening features you use. We don’t sell your data, and the website you’re reading uses no cookies, analytics, or third-party trackers.
Account & authentication
To create an account and sign in, we collect your email address and an optional display name. Accounts and authentication are handled by Supabase, our backend provider, which stores this information securely on our behalf.
Your garden & plant data
Information you enter — the plants you add, how your garden is laid out, notes, and related details — is stored (via Supabase) so we can show your garden back to you across sessions and devices. This is the core of the service.
Household pets
If you tell us about your pets, we store the pet information you enter (such as a pet’s type — cat or dog — and name) so we can show pet-safety warnings — for example, flagging plants that are toxic to your cats or dogs. This information is stored via Supabase and is only used to personalize those safety warnings.
Location & weather
If you enable weather features, the app reads your device’s location and sends your approximate coordinates to OpenWeather to fetch local conditions and the forecast. We use that to give you anticipatory, weather-based care alerts relevant to your garden (for example, a heads-up before a freeze). Your coordinates are used only to retrieve local weather and are not stored by us or used to track your movements.
Camera & plant-tag scanning
With your permission, the app uses the camera so you can scan a plant tag. The image is processed to read (recognize the text on) the tag for plant identification. Tag images are processed for identification and not retained — they are not uploaded to or stored on our servers.
Children’s privacy
CarterGarden is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Your choices & data requests
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by emailing developer@cartergarden.com. You can also disable camera or location permissions at any time in your device settings (some features will be limited without them).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. When we do, we’ll revise the effective date above and post the new version here.
